Quick Mae facts
'Mae' is the alias of a goddess named Coraxmaehe who is posing as a mortal in order to increase her devoted power base. She is coming to New Dodge, because technically, it is within her own universe, so she doesn't lose the powerbase that she has built back on the Lotl homeworld.
Coraxmaehe is the triple D goddess: Desire, discord and death. Her power comes from these, as well as they are how her powers interact.
Desire: Mae's main power basis is sex. Physical desire. One of her main abilities is to look at a person and just know what they desire. If your character is a submissive, she knows that. If they want to be fucked with a pineapple? She knows that, if they want to dominate her into next week? Well, she knows that too. While in her professional mode as a prostitute, she uses her ability to fulfill that person's every desire.
Yes, their every desire. Say, for example, they wanted to imagine that they were having sex with their ex, or someone whom they wanted? Mae's body would appear to be who they wanted, exactly how they wanted her to be. There is no such thing as a less than perfect sexual experience with Mae, it's why she gets away with raising her rates the longer people have been coming to see her.
But she doesn't just know their desire sexually. (Though that is where the majority of her power lies) she also knows what someone desires in other ways. If they desire a friend, or an ear, that too is something she can do. If they desire a good job, than people can pray that Coraxmaehe has their employer's ear or otherwise can act in their favor.
Mae will use whatever desire they have in whatever way best suits her fancy. She feeds off it, and it's all the better for her when it can be combined with the second D in her toolkit.
Discord: Discord and chaos are also things that Mae feeds off, but they are harder to get, which is why she is here as a sex worker rather than a chaos worker (also? She really, really likes having sex.) True discord eats at the heart of a person or a community, so it's always a very long game for her. Oh, she'll stir up a fight here or there, just for fun, but the best sort of discord takes long days to grow.
Death: The third D isn't one that's going to come much into play here in New Dodge. But back home on the Lotl, one of the functions of Coraxmaehe as a goddess is to gather the dead souls and bring them to the afterlife. She can talk to the dead, and see them, interact with them. They love her because she can interact with them. Mae can even see the dead who aren't from her world, though she can't tell them about her afterlife. When Mae returns home, it will be at the hour that she left so none of the dead are stuck.
Powers that New Dodge will encounter
Desire: sensing and being able to manipulate desire. Mae can look at someone and know instinctively what someone wants down at the base of their soul. She can also use what she knows about them in order to make their level of desire rise. She basically knows everything they want, not just sex. However, this is something that really only ever truly comes to play when someone visits her house.
Appearance: Mae can shift her appearance to take the form of what people desire. This can be a simple darkening of eyes or blueing of hair, or she can change her form entirely, given what the client desires. Or sometimes for shits and giggles.
Conjuring.: Being a goddess has it's perks, and one of those is being able to conjure things from the ether. They are permanent, but they cost her a great deal of power. The house appearing meant that she needed to go home and have some sex before she could come back and be her awesome self.
Transformation: Like her conjuring ability, Mae can transform things as well. It is a great investment of her power, so she does it rarely, and always with very good reason.
The ability to grow things: She can grow things, but only things that are sacred to her, i.e. things that grow at night or in moonlight. These are mostly flowers, ones that she has formed around the yard of her house.
